Notes
| Birth | The earliest reference of his birth shows him being born in February 28th of 1907 but he lied about his birthday in order to get into the Marines when he was 17. |
| Military | According to accounts from living relatives, Hubbie grew tired of logging in Georgia and decided that he would join the Marine Corp. He caught a bus to Parris Island and lied about his age so that he wouldn't have to have his parents permission tojoin. This led to historical records being wrong about his birthday. According to Lois Hattaway, he sent her a coral covered jewelry box from Nicuragua for her 16th birthday (1933). |
| Military | Based on Hubbie's previous record of no offenses and his 6 years in service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. This was also probably given as an incentive to keep him in the Marine Corp since he was getting ready to be discharged on June 1st. |
| Military | According to accounts, Hubbie grew tired of all the places that the military was sending him and the fighting as well. He decided to leave the Corps and settle down. |
| Witnessed | According to accounts, Hubbie was located in Chicago at the time of John Dillingers death. Apparently, he was going to school in Chicago during the early 30's to learn how to be a radio repairman. He was living in a hotel that was located near theBiograph theater where Dillinger was gunned down by the FBI. According to oral history, Hubbie heard the shots and ran over to see what had happened. |
| Occupation | The exact date is not know of how long Hubbie held this position but it was some time after he left South Carolina and before he had Danny which would have been between 1940 and 1945. The name of Broad street has changed to Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd. |
